Flamenco: A dance with passion and attitude

KATHMANDU, Sept 21: The International Club in Sanepa is hosting a Flamenco dance workshop featuring the Spanish teacher and performer Maradee de Guzman of Clara Ramona and Company.



Flamenco is a Spanish dance form that combines various techniques: Ritmos (rhythm), Vueltas (turns), Taconeos/Zapateados (footwork), Brazeos (armwork), Palmas (rhythmic clapping) and so on.[break]



“The stances are passionate, and the dancers have to pose with high attitude and pride,” stated Maradee.



The classes run from September 16 to 30on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6:30pm to 7:45pm.



The class size is limited. Maradee added,, “We already have around 10 students from various countries around the world such as Nepal, the United Kingdom, France, Germany.”







After the classes conclude on Friday, September 30, a showcasing of the dance learnt by students as well as Maradee’s solo performance will be held at a recital party.



Anyone interested to watch and learn some moves can drop in. The dropin rate is Rs 750 per person.



Also, bookings are open for additional group classes, children’s classes, and private lessons.
