Five more temporary traffic police posts added in Valley

KATHMANDU,  July 6: To make the traffic management of the Kathmandu Valley more systematic and effective, temporary traffic posts have been added at five locations in the Valley including Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur.

According to the spokesperson of the Traffic Police, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajendra Prasad Bhatta, temporary traffic posts have been added at Mulpani and Dharmasthali in Kathmandu, Duwakot and Dadhikot in Bhaktapur and Chalnakhel in Lalitpur.

With the addition of five posts, traffic will be managed from 66 locations within the Valley. It is believed that the added five temporary traffic police posts will facilitate traffic management and movement even in the outskirts of the Valley. Currently, traffic management is being done by 1,814 traffic police personnel in the Valley. Spokesperson Bhatta, however, mentioned that the number of government-approved positions in the Valley traffic police is only 1,113.

The number of public and private vehicles has been increasing significantly across the country including the Kathmandu Valley in recent times. Currently, there are 1,835,181 vehicles registered in Bagmati Province.
