Five killed in separate incidents

KATHMANDU, Nov 13: Three persons were killed in three separate incidents in Mahottari and Parsa on Friday while one infant was killed in a fire in Jajarkot and a tiger killed a child in Parvat on Thursday night.



In Mahottari, 62-year-old Dhanai Thakur, a barber by profession and a resident of Sonapa VDC-6, was killed when a tractor hit his cycle near Tikuliya Bazaar on Friday morning, police said. Thakur died while being taken to hospital. Police have arrested tractor driver and impounded the tractor.



In another incident in Mahottari, a woman died after consuming poison in Bishauna VDC-4 on Friday morning.



Police identified the woman as 35-year-old Punam Chaudhary, the wife of Gulab Chaudhary. Police said Punam consumed insecticide following a domestic feud. She died while being taken to Dharan for treatment.



In Parsa, Pradip Nath Rimal, a customs inspector at Birgunj Customs Office, was found dead in his room on Friday morning.



Based on crime scene investigation, police suspected that Rimal could have died of excessive alcohol consumption. The body of Rimal, a 52-year-old resident of Baneshwor in Kathmandu, has been kept in Narayani Hospital in Birgunj for post-mortem, the police said.



A report from Surkhet said an infant was killed when fire engulfed the house of Lal Bahadur BK in Bhagwati VDC of Jajarkot last night. Five-month-old Dipak BK, the son of Lal Bahadur, was killed in the incident. Lal Bahadur´s another son Top Bahadur (3) sustained serious injuries in the fire. The cause of the fire that broke out when the family was asleep has not been known.



In Parvat, a tiger killed a five-year-old child at Patlekhet, Karkineta VDC, on Thursday.



The deceased is Sujan Poudel, the son of Shiva Prasad Poudel. Police said the tiger attacked the child while he was playing on the backside of his house.



In Chitwan, 11 persons were injured, three seriously, in separate road accidents on Thursday night.
