Four persons were killed and another five injured after a jeep (Na. 1 ja) heading for Hetauda from Kathmandu skidded off the road at Nibuwatar in Bhaine village of Makwanpur district on Thursday, according to Republica correspondent Chandni Hamal. [break]
Police have identified three of the dead as Lila Bhattarai of Padampokhari-7 in Makwanpur, Jitendra Yadav of Rautahat district and Karna Kaki, whose address is yet to be ascertained. Another dead has yet not been identified.
Assistant Police Inspector Jitendra Kanu, Mohan Bajgain of Panchkhal in Kavre district, Rajkumar Ghalan of Hetauda, Sitaram Danuwar of Sindhupalchok and Rajkumar Basnet of Doramba in Sindhupalchok have been injured in the incident.
Jeep driver Basnet and Bajgain are in critical condition and have been rushed to Bharatpur for further treatment. Police say the jeep fell 20 meters down the road due to high speed.
Similarly, a youth who was celebrating Holi festival with his friends died in a motorcycle accident on Thursday in Babiya village of Sunsari district, according to Republica correspondent Amar Khadka.
Ramchandra Sonakar, 22, a resident of Inaruwa, died when his motorcycle rammed into an electricity pole. Sonakar lost control over his motorcycle as he was throwing color on his friends while driving, according to DSP Yamuna Rajak.
Ranjit Podar, 26, of Bhutaha, who was riding the same motorcycle, has been critically injured and taken to BPKIHS hospital in Dharan.
