PYUTHAN, Jan 12: Fire victims of Bhedabari in Pyuthan municipality-8 have demanded the government manage a shelter for them.
A joint team comprising Chief District Officer Badrinath Gaire, the ward chair and representatives from the Nepal Red Cross Society (NRSC) on Friday visited Bhedabari with assistance materials. The team provided Rs 10,000 each to the affected families and the NRSC, Pyuthan branch separately distributed two blankets and a set of utensils each for them. Ward chair Leelap Jung KC vowed to rehabilitate those displaced by the fire within the next 10 days.
The fire originated from the house of local Kali Sarki later destroyed other two houses nearby. Property worth around Rs 1.4 million was reduced to ashes in the fire in the Dalit settlement, ward chair KC said. Earlier, the local government (Pyuthan municipality) provided monetary assistance of Rs 25,000 each to the affected families.
