BAJURA, Oct 101: Six houses were destroyed on Monday night after a fire broke out in Dalit community of Swamikartik Rural Municipality-3, Jajarkot.
According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Jagadish Chandra Bhatta, children had lit fire while playing which resulted in the massive fire.
The fire had destroyed the house and property of locals Khantey Kami, Nare Kami, Haarmale Kami, Dhane Kami, Dhan Nath Kami and Gore Kami. However, no humans or animals were injured.
As the houses were joined in a row and made up of dried hay it didn't take long for the fire to spread. The houses turned to cinders in no time. DSP Bhatta informed that full details of the damage has yet to be received.
Bhatta further stated that victims will be compensated after investigating about their property losses. “They will be provided between Rs 300,0000 and Rs 500,000 each,” he said. The fire has permanently displaced the six Dalit families.
