Fire guts property worth Rs 300,000 in Mahottari

MAHOTTARI, Feb 28: Property worth around Rs. 300,000 was gutted by fire at Banauli VDC in Mahottari district this morning.



According to the District Police Office, Mahottari, the property was gutted after the house of Roshan Kumar Jha of Banauli-7 in the district caught fire at 9:00 am.



Goods including clothes, food grains, bicycles and cash were destroyed by the fire.



The fire started due to gas leakage, it is learnt.



No human casualty has been reported in the incident and locals brought the fire under control after an hour, said police.





Similarly, two houses were gutted by fire at Bishnupurkatti VDC-2 in Siraha district Wednesday night.



Maheshwor Shrestha, a local, said that the houses in the Dalit settlement were gutted. The houses of Raju Sada and Chankhe Sada were destroyed.



The victims are taking shelter at neighbouring houses after cash, ornaments, food grain as well as television, mobile set among other goods were destroyed by the fire.



Sub-Inspector Umesh Khadka said the fire started from the house of Raju.



Property worth around Rs. 76,000 including Rs. 7,000 in cash of Chankhe and property worth Rs. 143,000 of Raju was destroyed by fire, Khadka added.



Locals brought the fire under control immediately.
