JHAPA, Febb 4: Property worth millions of rupees was turned into ashes after a fire broke out on Thursday in a shoe factory at Mechinagar Municipality in Jhapa district.
Fire guts property worth 2 m in Saptari
Spokesperson for District Police Office, Jhapa, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Basanta Pathak said property equal to Rs 85 million was destroyed in the fire that occurred in SS Footwear.
The fire was brought under control after five hours of efforts from the security personnel and local people. It took a long time to douse the fire as the factory had stocks of rubber, chemical and other inflammable goods, according to the police. Pathak added a total of 11 fire engines from Jhapa, Morang and even the Indian cities were mobilized to extinguish the fire.
