Fire causes Rs 1.2 million damage at Bhaktapur donut factory

A fire broke out on Sunday at a donut factory near Madhyapur Thimi Hospital in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-4, Bhaktapur, causing a damage of around Rs 1.2 million.

BHAKTAPUR, March 17: A fire broke out on Sunday at a donut factory near Madhyapur Thimi Hospital in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-4, Bhaktapur, causing a damage of around Rs 1.2 million.


The Bhaktapur District Police Office suspects a short circuit as the cause of the fire. Sanis Shrestha, a 23-year-old resident of Bethanchok Municipality-4 in Kavrepalanchok, had rented land and was operating the donut factory at the location.

A police team from the Thimi Police Station, along with local residents and the fire brigade, responded immediately to control the fire.


The fire also damaged nearby shops and businesses, according to Dhundiraj Neupane, Information Officer at the Police Office. Authorities report that goods worth Rs 1,172,700 were destroyed. The police are continuing a detailed investigation into the incident.
