Financial help to Dhegani Devi's children

CHITWAN, Nov 4: A group of Nepali women working in Japan have provided financial help to Dhegani Devi Mahato, who was burned to death on the charge of practicing witchcraft.



CPN-UML central committee member Devi Gyanwali handed over Rs 100,000 collected by Nepali Women´s Forum Japan to Dhegani´s father-in-law Jhari Mahato amidst a function at Basantapur, Madi in Chitwan on Saturday. [break]



Dhegani Devi was killed by her neighbor Bikram Mahato and his family members on February 17.



“We want the amount to be spent on the education of Dhegani Devi´s children,” said NWFJ chairperson Srijana Kafle. Dhegani Devi´s husband had died over a decade ago. SOS Balgram, Bharatpur has been providing free accommodation and education to Dhegani Devi´s children.
