KATHMANDU, Sept. 6: Finance Minister Shankar Prasad Koirala has said that relevance of marking of the Civil Servant Day would be meaningful only if the civil servants speed up their performance and service delivery.

At a programme organized in the Finance Ministry Friday on the occasion of the Civil Servant Day, the Finance Minister urged the officials to internalize the Civil Servant Day as a moment to correct their past mistakes while discharging duties.

Perception of politicians and service seekers to civil servants was not positive and this was high time for civil servants to improve their image at the time of former bureaucrats leading the government, Koirala added.

Secretary at the Ministry of Finance Shanta Raj Subedi urged the officials to develop the culture of hearing the grievances of the service seekers.

He cautioned the officials not to be influenced from the family ambitions while discharging duties at offices.

On the occasion, Minister Koirala honored some officials with cash prize for their best performance.
