According to Surendra Poudel, assistant chief district officer of Morang, the firm has been illegally selling Indian inferior quality fertilizers at cheaper rates. "Though the standard price of 50 kilograms of DPA fertilizer in the market is Rs 1,700, Pathibhara was selling same quantity of Indian fertilizer for Rs 800," says Poudel.
Also, the store doesn´t have documents of fertilizers brought from India. The owner of the firm, Rajendra Shah, however claimed that he has fertilizer import documents but refused to comment on the raid.
The administration also raided Bishal Chemicals, a Gutkha (tobacco product) producing factory for evading customs, excise duty and VAT.
"The factory has been found operating illegally for a long so we made the raid," says Poudel.
