11 years for completion: Chameliya hydel project

One of Nepal’s national hydel project, the 30 MW Chameliya Hydropower came into operation from today. Although a pride project, the hydropower took 11 years to complete. 

Sanu Shrestha elected unopposed as speaker of Province-3

 Without any opponent, CPN-UML leader Sanu Shrestha has been elected as the Province 3’s speaker.  Shrestha had won from Kathmandu 2 ‘A’ during the Provincial Assembly election.

Secretary Yadav's body recovered, son still missing

Body of Ramananda Prasad Yadav, the secretary of Ministry of Irrigation was recovered from the jeep that skidded off the road and plunged into the river at Salanghat of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality, Dhading. Yadav, who,was wearing his seatbelt, was found attached to the seat. According to Sanjay Timilsina, police inspector at Khanikhola Area Police Office, Yadav was driving the jeep with his 22 year son, Santosh and 15 year Unnati Gupta. Both continue to be missing.

Rural municipality adds 2,000 rupees for new mothers

The Mahakulung rural municipality of Solukhumbu  is providing an additional Rs. 2,000 incentive to mothers ensuring safe and institutional delivery. Any woman going to health centres for child birth will receive a total of Rs. 3,500 including the 1,500 rupees provided by the government.

Israel launches attacks in Syria after F-16 crashes

Israel said it launched air strikes against air defences and Iranian targets in Syria on Saturday and the Syrian army claimed to have hit an Israeli F-16 that crashed in northern Israel in a major escalation of tension.
