TAPLEJUNG, Jan 1: It has been concluded that there is no other option but helicopter rescue of Lakpatansi Sherpa, 50, and his 15-year-old son Pasang Chhiring Sherpa of Papung Simbuk of Mikwakhola Rural Municipality Ward No. 5 of Taplejung who were trapped in the snow due to snow while moving the cowshed.
According to Dandu Lama, Ward Chairman of Mikwakhola Rural Municipality, Ward No. 5, the father and son had informed that they would be able to return home by yesterday evening but as they are not able to return home even in the morning, they have requested for helicopter rescue.

According to him, Lakpatansi Sherpa, and Pasang Chhiring Sherpa are trapped at Loden Kharka in Papung. Ward Chairman Lama said that Lakpatansi had called on Saturday morning and demanded to send a helicopter as they are unable to return home clearing the snow.
He said that father and son duo had informed him that the avalanche had washed away 25 yaks as well and they have seen an area where helicopter can land from the cave they are staying at.
If the helicopter is not able to land, there is a possibility of returning food and warm clothes for the father and son trapped in the snow, according to Ward Chairman Lama.
