SIMKOT, Dec 27: Snow has been falling in the high mountainous district of Humla since Sunday evening due to a change in weather. Despite the people's lives being affected due to the snowfall, farmers in the southern part of the district are happy as they had suffered a lot due to drought.
Prithvi Shahi, a teacher of Adanchuli-5, Kargai, said that the locals of Adanchuli, Tanjkot, Changkheli and Sarkegadh were happy after receiving the snowfall. He said that the snow is good for the wheat sown in the fields.
Meanwhile, the locals are facing difficulty to even get out of their homes as the temperature has reached minus 11 degrees Celsius there. At present, heavy snow is frozen in Simkot and up to two feet of snow is reported in villages in the northern region. The temperature has decreased sharply in Limi, Muchu, Khagalgaon, Sanda, Hepkka, Bargaun, Simkot and other villages in the area.
“The temperature in Limi and Muchu has exceeded minus 15 degrees Celsius due to snow,” said Muchuka Lama, a local resident. “It has been snowing continuously since last evening. With snowfall, there is strong wind due to which people are not able to get out of their houses.”
According to the District Police Office, the district security personnel have also been affected by the sudden cold.
