Fan club provides kits to judokas. coaches

KATHMANDU: Judo National Team Fan Club on Friday handed over sports kits to national players and coaches of judo undergoing second phase training under Mission SAG. Rajan Karmacharya, a member of Nepal Judo Association and representative of the fan club, handed over the sports kits worth Rs 35,200 to the players and coaches. The fan club had contributed Rs 28,500 while Karmacharya had contributed Rs 6,640 from his personal fund. Players Saroj Maharjan, Ramesh Magar, Mohan Sunuwar, Deepak Shrestha, Sri Ram Makaju, Shiva Bahadur Baram and Kaluman Tamang are the male players undergoing the special training while Lila Adhikari, Devika Khadka, Phupu Lhamu Khatri, Sunita Magar and Indira Rai are the female players.[break]



Shakya, Shrestha of NAC win titles



KATHMANDU: Nabin Bahadur Shakya and Baba Shrestha of the host Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) on Friday claimed the men´s and women´s singles titles respectively at the Third Inter-airlines Table Tennis Championship. Shakya defeated Pradip Rajbhandari 11-9, 7-11, 11-9, 11-8 in an all-NAC final of men´s singles. Suresh Bikram Hamal took the third-place honors. Shrestha edged past China Southern´s Huang Yan 11-8, 10-12, 11-7, 11-8 in the women´s singles final. Liang Ji of China Southern finished third in the event. The men´s and women´s singles champions will receive two-way tickets for Kathmandu-Hong Kong while the runners-up will get Kathmandu-Thailand two-way tickets.
