KATHMANDU, Aug 26: The police in Gaushala, Kathmandu, have seized counterfeit notes. A team from the District Police Office, Kathmandu, recovered fake notes of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 denominations.
The police have reported seizing 25 counterfeit notes of 1,000 denomination and 341 counterfeit notes of 500 denomination.

The police have detained Arajul Haq from Jhapa, Rajendra Bhattarai from Ilam, and Bodhchandra Namchung along with the counterfeit notes. They have also seized narcotics from their possession.
Kathmandu Police Spokesperson Superintendent of Police (SP) Nabraj Adhikari said that further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Recently, the circulation of counterfeit notes has been increasing in the Terai region and Kathmandu. The number of arrests made by the police also indicates a rise in counterfeit currency transactions. Counterfeit notes have been found being used in vegetable shops, supermarkets, and even restaurants.
