State-owned entities like National Trading Limited (NTL), Salt Trading Corporation (STC), Dairy Development Corporation (DDC) and Nepal Food Corporation (NFC) have stalls at the center.[break]
The center has been established with the objective of providing stuffs to public at reasonable price.
Sambhu Pandey, chief of liquor sales department of National Trading Lmited, said they expect to sell liquors worth Rs 10 million till Tihar.
Gauri Nath Jha, store in-charge of National Trading Limited (NTL), said NTL was recording daily sale of around Rs 55,000. Jha said most of the customers are buying home appliances. “However, we couldn´t provide goods as per the demand because of limited stock,” he added.
NTL has kept home appliances like frying pan, toaster, gas stove and juicer, and industrial instruments among others.
Dairy Development Corporation is selling dairy products like curd, cheese, ice-cream, fresh milk and ghee at its stall. “We have been recording daily sales worth Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000,” said Radha Krishna Shrestha of DDC.
Similarly, NFC is selling five different brands of rice -- Sona Mansuli, Sawa Mansuli, Jira Masino, American and Basmati. NFC is also selling sugar at fair price. Nawa Raj Aryal, food assistant at NFC, said there were recording transactions worth Rs 150,000 a day.
Salt Trading has been selling food items like sugar, lentils, seeds, edible oil and rice, among others. Suraj Dhakal of Salt Trading said they were recording daily sales worth Rs 150,000 per day.
The shops closed from Wednesday but will resume on October 22 for Tihar and Chhath festivals.
