KATHMANDU, April 9: German Embassy in Kathmandu has announced to organize a 16-day exhibition titled “The German Energiewende: Transforming Germany's Energy System” from April 12.
The exhibition to be held on the premises of Information and Communication Technology Center in Pulchowk Campus illustrates German economy's transformation toward reusable energy sources.
Revised interest rate corridor system introduced
“What is energy transition, what milestones have been achieved and what challenges remain? It should also be an occasion to discuss challenges we share, and show appreciation for the efforts of the Government of Nepal to create conducive environment toward climate-friendly energy in the country,” states a press release issued by the German Embassy in Kathmandu on Monday.
German Ambassador to Nepal Roland Schäfer said Germany is leading the movement of clean and renewable energy with an objective of achieving carbon neutrality in 2050. The reliance of Germany on sustainable energy in 2018 has reached to 28 percent, up from a meager 6 percent in 2001.
Nepal too has huge potential in renewable energy by tapping in various sources like hydropower and solar energy. Ambassador Schäfer lauded Nepal's efforts to promote alternative energy uses.
The interactive travelling exhibition has already toured more than 80 locations in about 30+ countries. It is expected to be visited by students from schools and campuses, professionals working in renewable energy sector, policy makers and academics as well as anyone who has interest in the latest development in renewable energy sector.
According to the statement, the exhibition is accompanied by a photo story about 60 years of friendship between Nepali and German citizens. The exhibition of inspiring portraits of volunteers and business owners is a great way to experience intercultural exchange and tell the story of close friendship.
