Executive meeting held to popularize mini great wall

TANAHUN, August 14: The construction of the Manimukundeshwari Wall, also known as the ‘mini great wall’, in Bandipur Rural Municipality of Tanahun district is currently underway. The 1,400 meters long mini great wall project is funded by the rural municipality. The attraction has become a new tourist hotspot in the region. 

The 89th executive meeting of Bandipur Rural Municipality was held at the entry point of Thanimai danda in order to spread the word of the new attraction on Friday. The meeting also decided to restore the old Thanimai Temple. The area is a prime destination for tourists to witness some beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

Similarly, the executive meeting decided to provide Rs 30,000 as relief to the families who lost their relatives in the recent floods and landslides. Also, decisions have been made to purchase 250 nets for disaster management purposes.

The meeting also decided to move forward to prepare a DPR for the projected garbage collection center in Jamuney of Bandipur Municipality-1 as well as to make way for excavation of sand and stones from the river.

The mini great wall project, which has been under construction for the past two years, has become a famous attraction among tourists. According to Karuna Gurung, vice-chair of the rural municipality, the entry point of the wall is situated at Thanamai danda and will stretch for almost three kilometers till Manimukundeshwari danda. The rural municipality has allocated Rs 10.5 million while the federal government has allocated Rs 40.5 million for the project.

The local government has decided to add infrastructures to prolong the stay of tourists, Gurung said. Also, the construction of the Dumre-Bandipur cable car is underway. Furthermore, the municipality is also making preparations for projects like ‘a sky glass bridge’ and a zip line to attract tourists to the region, Gurung added.
