According to Phaniraj Pathak, secretary to former King Gyanendra Shah, Paras arrived in Kathmandu at around 12:30 pm through a flight of Thai Airways.
Dozens of well-wishers and supporters thronged to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to welcome Paras. The crowd also chanted slogans in his favor as well as of monarchy, but Shah left the airport without addressing his admirers.Although he was expected to go to Nirmal Niwas, the residence of former King Gyanendra, he headed straight to a separate house in Kundilini Health Club.
A source close to his family said that he will be shifting to Nirmal Niwas on an appropriate date under the suggestion of his family priest and the consent of his father.
Shah, who had been staying in Thailand since more than three years, was often detained by Thai police for possessing illegal drugs and vandalism.
Paras was arrested in Bangkok last October for the third time for possessing illicit drugs like cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamine crystal (ice). Thai police made him public along with 10 gm of cocaine, 9 gm of marijuana and 5.8 gm of ice found in small packets hidden inside his car.
Despite stern legal provisions against possession of illegal drugs in Thailand, Nepal's embassy in Bangkok secured his release through diplomatic channels earlier this week.
