During the meeting, discussions were held on cooperation for Nepal's stability, economic development, and good governance, while also recalling the 51 years of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the European Union. PM Oli informed the delegation about Nepal's progress in economic development and good governance, highlighting the country's journey through the armed conflict, peaceful people's movement, and peace talks, which ultimately led to the promulgation of the new constitution by the Constituent Assembly.
He urged the two major parties involved in the country's political transformation, the CPN (UML) and the Nepali Congress, to form a government committed to economic development and good governance, and to expand investment for Nepal's prosperity and job creation. He made it clear that there is no possibility of turning back from the federal democratic republican system achieved through the people's struggle, and that the future destination for Nepal is stability and prosperity.
PM Oli expressed confidence that with the enactment of transitional justice laws and the establishment of two commissions based on consultations with relevant parties, there would be no further delays in the process.
The European Union ambassadors reaffirmed their continued support for Nepal’s economic and social development efforts, particularly in the areas of education, infrastructure, health, green energy, information technology, and climate change. They expressed happiness over Nepal’s progress in moving toward finalizing transitional justice and emphasized the need to focus on the issues of the victims. The ambassadors also congratulated Nepal for the successful organization of the Sagarmatha Sambaad.
The meeting was also attended by the Prime Minister's Chief Advisor, Bishnu Prasad Rimal, and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among others.
