“The regulation will revise current rules on the use of textile fiber names, labeling, marking and determination of the fiber composition of textile products, to improve the functioning of the internal market and to providing accurate information to consumers,” the Council said in a press statement received on Tuesday.
Under the terms of the agreement, the future regulation should also contain provisions to improve the system in order to further harmonize the names of textile fibers and the indications appearing on labels, markings and documents which accompany textile products at the various stages of their production, processing and distribution.
The Monday´s agreement, meanwhile, has raised brows of the Nepali garment manufacturers, as Nepal is currently enjoying derogation on the origin of the textile fiber used in manufacturing process. If the EU revoked the facility, it will land a new blow to the Nepali exporters.
