EPL side Liverpool auction jerseys for Nepal

KATHMANDU, June 24: The English Premier League side Liverpool Football Club collected £9,941.88 funds for earthquake affected people of Nepal.

The club collected the amount through an auction of 14 match-worn shirts, according Liverpool FC's official website.

Nepal was hit by April 25 devastating earthquake and after-shocks that claimed lives of more than 8,000 people and injured more than 20,000.The club had put shirts worn by players during Liverpool FC 2-1 win over Queens Park Rangers at Anfield on May 2.

According to the club, it also collected funds through online auction site.

"The money raised will help provide shelter, food, blankets, clean water, sanitation supplies, water storage units, medical aid and baby kits," the club has said on its website.

Liverpool has claimed five European Cups, three UEFA Cups, three UEFA Super Cups, seven FA Cups, and eight League Cups; however it is yet to win Premier League.
