ENT services at BPKIHS closed

DHARAN, July 25: All services of the ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) Department at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan have been closed for an "indefinite" period from Sunday following a two-week-long dispute between the ENT and anesthesia departments over the treatment of patients.



Following the closure, around 200 patients had to return without treatment on Sunday, BPKIHS said. [break]



The ENT department had to be closed for the time being after doctors of the anesthesia department refused to work with ENT department chief Dr Sangita Bhandari, Director of BPKIHS Dr BP Das said. The anesthesia doctors have said they will not see any patients checked by Dr Bhandari, Dr Das added.



Meanwhile, Dr Bhandari said their department had not stopped services but patients had to suffer as the anesthesia department refused to work.



On the other hand, Dr Balkrishna Bhattarai, the chief of anesthesia department, said they faced difficulty in working with Dr Bhandari because of her negligence.



Dr Das said they would try to solve the dispute soon.
