Officials at the KUKL have asked consumers not to fully rely on the quality of drinking water supplied by the utility as water pipelines have been damaged at various places.
"We urge all consumers to treat the water to make it safe for drinking," Milan Kumar Shakya, Spokesperson at the KUKL, said. He claimed that the office has been trying its best to supply safe drinking water but this has become difficult due to leakages at various places.According to Shakya, recent earthquakes have damaged water pipelines at several places. "Our supply system has been hit by the earthquake. We have repaired pipelines at various places but there might still be some damaged pipelines left," said Shakya. He has asked consumers to filter or boil the water before drinking.
Monsoon is an epidemic season, in which thousands of people get infected with waterborne diseases. The KUKL said production of the drinking has increased with the start of monsoon season. As a result, consumers, who were reeling under acute scarcity of drinking water, have heaved a sigh of relief.
