Enough firewood for cremation, says government

KATHMANDU, May 1: The government has made arrangements for adequate firewood for cremating the bodies of people killed in the April 25 devastating earthquake.

The Timber Corporation has made available firewood enough to cremate 496 bodies as of 10 am today, the Ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation told RSS.


The Ministry spokesman Krishna Prasad Acharya said the firewood has been made available to the required quantity at Pashupati, Swoyambhu and places outside the Kathmandu Valley also.

According to Acharya, 250 kilograms of firewood is required to burn a body. Five hundred thousand kilogrammes of firewood is still in stock at the Pashupati area. RSS
