KATHMANDU, Oct 9: The Kathmandu Valley Police Office has bolstered security arrangements ahead of the Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath festivals, anticipating potential criminal activities during this festive season. Special attention has been paid to securing banks and financial institutions, which witness a surge in financial transactions during this period.
SSP Dineshraj Mainali, the head of the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, revealed that plainclothes police personnel have been deployed to prevent incidents like theft, robbery, and other criminal activities that might occur in the festive season. These officers, equipped with small weapons, are stationed in and around banks and financial hubs.

To ensure a comprehensive security setup during the festivals, a combination of measures will be employed, including foot patrols, mobile patrols, cordons, plainclothes officers, checkpoints, picketing, striking, and the presence of reserve forces across all three districts of the Kathmandu Valley.
Furthermore, modern technology and specially trained canines from the canine office of Nepal Police will be utilized to conduct security checks at malls, marts, and key checkpoints throughout the Kathmandu Valley. A total of 5,833 police personnel will be deployed to maintain security and ensure a safe environment for residents and visitors during the festive season.
