End of arms' culture ensures peace: PM

KATHMANDU, Oct. 1: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that lasting peace can be established only after doing away with arms and explosives.



Inaugurating "Global Peace Festival South Asia 2010" organised Global Peace Association here Friday, he said that the peace campaign that started three years ago has been attracting hundreds of thousands of people across the works. [break]



While stressing for the establishment of peaceful society, he said that the culture of arms and ammunitions should come to an end.



On the occasion, Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Rakam Chemjong urged all people to help intensify the peace campaign.



Former Speaker Daman Nath Dhungana said the society will be peaceful if poverty can be stamped out.



Likewise, President of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Kush Kumar Joshi said peace was for prosperous society.



Chairman of Global Peace Festival Foundation Dr. Hyun Jin Moon said that peace can be established in the world if all caste, class and group unite.
