Emphasize humanitarian aspect during disaster: PM

KATHMANDU, May 18: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has said that all should give more priority to the humanitarian side during the time of disaster.

The PM said this while receiving the relief amount from the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) to be deposited in the Prime Minister Natural Disaster Relief Fund this morning at his official residence in Baluwatar.


On the occasion, ANFA President and lawmaker Ganesh Thapa handed over the check of Rs 1 million to the Prime Minister.

During the program, ANFA President Thapa said that discussions would be held in the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) meeting to be organized in Switzerland after some time and added that he would appeal for rehabilitation of the quake-hit people and reconstruction of the physical damages in Nepal.

The Prime Minister also said that no other mechanism is effective as the Prime Minister Natural Disaster Relief Fund and urged the people to make the relief distribution more effective by depositing the amount in the Fund.

On the occasion, PM asked not to harbor doubts on misuse of the amount as the amount would be released to the Home Ministry from the National Planning Commission Vice-chairman-headed committee and then to the accounts of the district natural disaster committees.

The PM said that he was for proper utilization and fair distribution of the relief amount and relief materials provided by the national and international donors by reducing their two square meals.

Saying that complaints have come on concealing tents in the markets and overcharging the needy, PM Koirala said that all should support to stop such malpractice.

CTEVT donates Rs 4.2 million

Likewise, CTEVT (Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training) has provided Rs 4.2 million in the Prime Minister Natural Disaster Relief Fund today.

CTEVT Member Secretary Ramhari Lamichhane handed over the check of the amount to the PM meant for the quake-hit communities.

Likewise, Lamichhane said that 1,000 quake-victim children would be given free education.

On the occasion, the PM also said that the government was cautious to stop the misuse of the relief fund and relief materials.

NBA provides Rs one million

Furthermore, the Nepal Bar Association (NBA) has provided Rs 1 million in the Fund to support the earthquake affected communities.

NBA President Harikrishna Karki handed over the amount to PM Koirala.

Karki said that the amount was collected from the legal practitioners at the call of the NBA. RSS
