MAHOTTARI, Dec 12: An elderly woman died from hypothermia at Gaushala of Mahottari after exposure to cold wave and fog last night.

The deceased has been identified as Shalav Devi Sada, 65, of Gaushala Municipality – 5. With the temperature plummeting, Sada had gone to sleep without warm clothes and was found dead in her bed in the morning, local Lalu Sada said.

Shalav Devi, who has four sons, was living alone in her house after the death of her husband. The failure on part of the local authorities to provide timber to fend off the increasing cold has severely impacted the Dalit community.

The locals had recently demanded availability of timber to keep themselves warm during this winter season. RSS
