EKK Infrastructure was chosen because it submitted the lowest bid, offering to undertake the construction for Rs 1.18 billion (Rs 1.5 million less than other bidders). The municipality had called for tenders for the project last March, with approval from the Project Implementation Unit under the Ministry of Urban Development.

The project will develop the Danda River corridor, incorporating roads, footpaths, canals, and bicycle lanes throughout the municipality.

The government has already signed an agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to secure concessional loans worth Rs 6 billion for infrastructure projects in seven municipalities, including Siddharthanagar. Under the "Urban Resilience and Livability Improvement Project," road expansion works will also be carried out in Pokhara Metropolitan City, Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City, and several municipalities including Lumbini, Saina Maina, Tilottama, and Devdaha.
