Registrar at the Kanchanpur District Court Yadunath Sharma said a bench of Judge Gopal Prasad Bastola acquitted the police officers accused of destroying the evidence.
Nirmala's mother had filed the case against eight police officials including SP Bista and DSP Angur GC as defendants. As she grew suspicious over the earlier accused Dilip Singh Bista to be the rapist and murderer (after watching him confessing the crime in video clips), she had appealed to withdraw the case but to no avail.
SP Bista was sacked by the Ministry of Home Affairs, while seven other police officials including Gyan Bahadur Seti, Ekindra Khadka, Jagdish Bhatta, Hari Singh Dhami, Ram Singh Dhami and Chadani Saud were suspended.
