The strike has been called protesting the police not releasing their cadres, who were detained in connection with firing incidents in Itahari some one-and-a-half weeks ago.[break]
The organizations have announced a phase-wise protest program, demanding the release of their cadres. They have accused the police administration of arresting and filing cases against their ‘innocent’ cadres.
On July 14, various groups were involved in firing at different places of Itahari. Police had detained 10 NC cadres in connection with the incidents and subsequently filed public offense cases against them at court.
