Education Minister Rai directs KU to withdraw suspension of Dr Dahal

KATHMANDU, Jan 9: Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Ashok Kumar Rai, has directed the Kathmandu University to take immediate measures to remove the suspension of a residential doctor Dr Bishad Dahal of Kathmandu Medical College.  

Minister Rai issued this directive as the Pro-chancellor of Kathmandu University. 

Addressing a meeting of the parliamentary committee on Education, Health and Information Technology, Secretary at the Education Ministry, Suresh Adhikari, said that Minister Rai issued a directive to mobilize doctors in health camps only after issuance of criteria determined by KU after lifting the suspension of Dahal. 

KMC had suspended Dr Dahal for his refusal to be part of the health camps. The decision, however, has drawn criticisms with lawmakers saying that the action was not in accordance with law.
