KATHMANDU, Dec 6: Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari has said that the Election Commission (EC) is fully prepared in every way for the House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5.
Speaking to the national news agency RSS on Friday—90 days before the election—Bhandari said the government has made all necessary arrangements as requested by the EC, and the commission has been working according to its published schedule and programs.

He said this has further ensured a conducive environment for the election. He added that the EC conveyed its readiness during a meeting called by Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Friday with political parties, concerned ministers, and security chiefs.
“We had some budget shortages. The Ministry of Finance has already committed to releasing additional funds based on our needs and expenditures,” Bhandari said. “Now we will proceed with our regular programs. We have clearly communicated this to the government, political parties, and security agencies.”
The EC had requested a budget of around Rs 7 billion, out of which the Ministry of Finance has already ensured Rs 5.96 billion. The commission has called on political parties wishing to participate under the proportional representation (PR) electoral system to submit their applications. As many as 120 political parties have filed applications for election participation.
