KATHMANDU, August 29: The Election Commission (EC) has extended the deadline for the elected people’s representatives of the CPN-UML and the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) that split recently to choose their party.

Earlier last week, CPN–UML and JSP split, giving rise to two new political parties – CPN (Unified Socialist) and Democratic Socialist Party after President Bidya Devi Bhandari issued a ‘party-split’ ordinance.

Issuing a press statement, the poll body has maintained that the people’s representatives earlier elected from the UML and JSP can join CPN (Unified Socialist) and Democratic Socialist Party on their own will by 5PM of September 7, next month.
