EC concerns over Alam attack

KATHMANDU, Oct 4: The Election Commission (EC) has expressed serious concern on Friday’s assault over CPN-UML’s election candidate, Mohammad Alam.



Issuing a statement, the EC, has drawn attention of the government regarding the incident and directed to arrange effective security for all election candidates. [break]



An unidentified gang of assailants shot at Alam in Bara district on Friday morning. Alam´s  treatment has been undergone at TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj. UML leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal, Bidhya Bhandari among others reached at the hospital and received latest health condition of Alam.



Leader Alam was shot at Chainpur Chowk of Bara district along the Pathlaiya-Birgunj road while he was talking on phone, an official at Bara District Police Office told Republica over telephone.
