EBL opens branch in Parbat

PARBAT, May 12: Everest Bank Limited (EBL) has opened a branch in Kushma, the district headquarter of Parbat. This is EBL´s 30th branch in the country. With the opening, EBL became the first private bank to offer its services in Kushma. [break]



R K Ummat, chief executive officer of the bank, inaugurated the branch amid a function on Monday.



Addressing the function in this rural town, Ummat said that that the bank has for the first time brought in a technology whereby the customers can undertake transactions on the basis of their thumbprints--obviating the need to sign their names. He elaborated that the bank has expanded its branches in the rural area mainly to offer banking services at people´s doorsteps.



EBL has expressed hope that the establishing of the branch will contribute in the economic advancement of the district and help in the providing of remittance services. The bank, among other services, offers SMS banking, online banking and an SMS mobile recharge facility, stated Arjun Paudel, branch manager of the bank.





Laxmi Bank opens new branch



KATHMANDU, May 12: Laxmi Bank has opened a new branch inside the Patan Hospital complex in Lagankhel. This is the 18th branch of the bank.



The new branch will offer a full range of personal and retail banking services, including savings and derivative deposit schemes that yield an interest of up to 7 percent per annum. Other services include home loans, life insurance, credit cards, bill payment, e-banking and loans to small businesses.



The Lagankhel branch is expected to complement the bank´s growth plans for Lalitpur on the whole, states a press release issued by the bank on Tuesday, acknowledging that Lagankhel is an important strategic gateway to a number of residential and commercial hubs around Ring Road.



During the inauguration ceremony of the branch, Euden Koirala, branch manager, handed over a check of Rs 100,000 to Patan Hospital. The fund, raised by Laxmi Cares, a social initiative of Laxmi Bank employees, will go towards renovating the Hospital´s pediatric ward.
