KATHMANDU, Dec 10: The Awqaf Foundation and Palace Funds Management in the Emirate of Dubai have unveiled a groundbreaking environmental initiative in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi-based Bainuna Water Generation Technology Company (Mahwa). The project introduces the world’s first Waqf water station that generates clean drinking water directly from air humidity, marking a major innovation in sustainable water solutions.
According to Al Khaleej newspaper, the station uses advanced air-to-water extraction technology powered entirely by solar energy, eliminating the need for traditional infrastructure such as water networks, wells or pipelines. This makes the system fully independent, eco-friendly and capable of providing pure water with minimal environmental impact.

The initiative stands out for its 100% green operational approach and flexibility in deployment. The units can be installed in remote villages, mosques, rest areas and regions lacking reliable water access, offering a dependable source of clean drinking water to underserved communities.
As part of the project’s expansion, authorities plan to begin installing stand-alone water stations along major highways, enabling commuters and motorists to easily access safe drinking water. This model installation will serve as a pioneering example of how innovative technology can support sustainability, public welfare and environmental stewardship.
This initiative reflects the UAE’s commitment to pioneering solutions that strengthen water security and support global efforts towards sustainable resource management.
