Leader Rijal, who is also a former minister, urged the main opposition party, CPN-UML, to make a comment on the budget presented for the coming fiscal year only after looking at the budget introduced by the party last year. Rijal also said that the UML would not be able to criticize the current government for estimating the economic growth rate by 8 percent when the former government had estimated an economic growth of 6.5 percent at the time of COVID-19 pandemic.
“The budget is in the right direction. The budget could not have come in different ways. It has been introduced as it should have been introduced. I thank the Finance Minister for introducing the budget by setting correct priorities,” Rijal said.
Dr Rijal said that although the role of CPN-UML had changed from the ruling party to the main opposition the priorities of the budget had not changed.
