Dr Nicholous Bhusal remanded for five days  over threats to bomb PM residence

The Kathmandu District Administration Office granted police permission to keep Bhusal in custody for five days to carry out further investigation. He was taken into police custody on Tuesday from Gorkha for allegedly making statements inciting violence, and was presented before the District Administration Office on Wednesday.

KATHMANDU, Nov 5: Dr Nicholous Bhusal, who stirred controversy after publicly stating that he would bomb the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, has been remanded to police custody for an additional five days.



The Kathmandu District Administration Office granted police permission to keep Bhusal in custody for five days to carry out further investigation. He was taken into police custody on Tuesday from Gorkha for allegedly making statements inciting violence, and was presented before the District Administration Office on Wednesday.


Chief District Officer Ishwar Raj Paudel authorized the remand to allow police to investigate the case under charges related to disturbing public peace.

Bhusal had posted on social media threatening to “launch a missile attack” at Baluwatar, after earlier calling for protests outside the residences of former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and then-Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, Chhabi Rijal.


According to police, Bhusal is being investigated on charges of spreading false rumors under “offenses against public peace.” If convicted, the offense carries a penalty of up to one year in prison or a fine of up to Rs 10,000.
