KATHMANDU, March 16: Senior orthopedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC on Saturday urged the government to amend the National Medical Education Act which came into force last month.
In a press statement, Dr KC claimed that the law is in favor of medical mafias and it has several flaws. "We urge the government to address our demands as agreed before," he stated.
The crusader for medical education reforms has warned to launch stern protest if his demands are not met.
In the statement, KC has raised question over the government's decision to dismiss vice-chancellor of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dr Raj Kumar Rauniyar.
He said that appointments in the government offices should be made on the basis of seniority and merit to end the political influence in such appointments.
