Teacher beats up student unconcious, parents demand action

KHOTANG, Feb 18: A complaint has been filed at the District Education Office (DEO) of Khotang against a teacher on the charge of beating a student unconscious. 

Krishna Kumari Regmi, a teacher of Shankheshwari Secondary School had allegedly beaten up sixth grader Kaushala Rai till she lost her consciousness. Parents of the victim student reached the district headquarters Diktel to file a complaint against Regmi on Thursday demanding action against the teacher. According to family members, the girl has bruise marks on her left hand and neck. “We have filed a complaint at the DEO demanding action against the teacher,” said Bajra Kumar Rai, father of the victim.

 Teacher Regmi had allegedly beaten up the girl using a stick on Tuesday. As per the statement of the victim, she was beaten up by her teacher for going to toilet during her class. “At first she caned me on the hand and later on the neck. I can't remember what happened after that,” Kaushala said.

Students of Shankheshwari Secondary School have padlocked the school administration to protest the teacher's brutality. According to Min Kumari Thapa, an officer at the DEO, Khotang, her office is investigating the issue. “Non-cooperation by teachers has made our investigation difficult,” said Thapa.
