DPM Yadav flies to Bangkok with ‘third’ passport; sans cabinet approval

KATHMANDU, July 25: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health, Upendra Yadav threw tantrums at the Tribhuvan International Airport yesterday. Yadav showcased his stature of being a minister and threw tantrums to board a Thai Airlines flight without a passport, thereby delaying the takeoff by 45 minutes.


It has been learned that DPM Yadav had received his ‘third’ passport in hurry.  DPM Yadav called at passport department to issue a new passport for him at around noon. Director General Ram Kaji Khadka of passport department urged DPM Yadav to come to the department in person to collect his passport. He received his passport within 10 minutes and headed to the airport.

As per the record at the department, DPM Yadav has already collected two passports previously. The department has enlisted one of his diplomatic passports in the stolen and lost list of Interpol to avoid any manipulation explained DG Khadka.


According to passport act issue a new diplomatic passport, the cabinet should approve first. However, DPM Yadav did not fulfill documents and process to collect the diplomatic passport. Similarly, DPM Yadav left for Thailand without cabinet approval.
