DPM Sitaula resigns over CA extension move

KATHMANDU, May 24: Krishna Prasad Sitaula, one of the deputy prime ministers in the current Baburam Bhattarai-led government on Thursday tendered his resignation expressing his dissent over the government´s recent move to extend  the term of Constituent Assembly.



Sitaula, who along with another party leader Surya Man Gurng represents Nepali Congress (NC) in the current coalition government,  handed over his resignation to party President Sushil Koirala this morning, according to NC leader Shekhar Koirala.[break]



Expressing serious reservation over the government decision to extend the CA term beyond May 27, a meeting of  the central working committee on Wednesday had demanded the withdrawal of its ministers from the government.
