KATHMANDU, June 19: Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Minister for Foreign Affairs Sujata Koirala has accused the Unified CPN (Maoist) of being an hurdle to the political consensus.

Talking to reporters at the Tribhuvan International Airport upon her return after a six-day visit to India on Saturday, Koirala said the Maoists obstructed the way to political consensus by not implementing the past agreements.

“During my stay in the southern neighboring country, I met some Indian leaders and well wishers of Nepal,” said the DPM, adding, “they all are in favour of lasting peace and timely promulgation of the new constitution in Nepal.”

Discussions on the ongoing violence in Nepal mainly in Madhesh and cross-border crimes were also held with the stakeholder concerned, she informed.
