DPM and Defence Minister calls for caution against those disturbing social harmony

Bhaktapur, Aug 25: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Purna Bahadur Khadka has cautioned against what he called the tendency of disturbing social harmony.

He said this type of wrong tendency has been seen of late which is likely to upset the social harmony existing in the Nepali society under various pretexts.

DPM Khadka said this while inaugurating the ward office building and the health post block of Changunarayan Municipality, ward-5 on Friday.

On the occasion, he stressed on the need of tying the nation in a single thread of social and national unity.

"All the ethnic and linguistic communities and all Nepalis having diverse art, culture and living in various geographies have been living in harmony for centuries and there is no conflict among them on these lines," he said and cautioned all against the divisive forces that are trying to incite ethnic and communal violence in one or the other pretext.

The defense minister said all should be united in keeping intact the country's sovereignty and indivisibility and in fulfilling the people's aspirations for development and prosperity. He urged the federal, provincial and local levels to come together in promoting national unity and social harmony. DPM Khadka added that the government, people's representatives and the people should go hand-in-hand to fulfill the aspirations for the nation's development.

Lawmaker and Nepali Congress district committee president Durlav Thapa, former minister of Bagmati Province  Krishna Lal Bhadel, Bagmati Province Assembly member Suresh Shrestha, Chief of Kathmandu Valley Development Authority (KVDA) Januka Dhakal, Changunarayan Municipality’s Mayor  Jeevan Khatri, deputy mayor Ramesh Budhathoki and Ward-5 chairman  Jayaendra Khadka among others underscored the need of infrastructure development such as roads, electricity and urban planning as well as health and education in the municipality.
