KATHMANDU, Aug 29: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has directed the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) not to implement a contract the metropolis had reached with the Side Walkers Pvt Ltd to manage the entry process at Sundhara-Dharahara and the Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square area.

"The commission has directed the KMC not to implement the agreement as the deal was signed without an open competition, and that the deal may harm the service seekers´ interest," stated a statement issued by CIAA´s Assistant Spokesman Keshav Prasad Ghimire on Thursday.

The Supreme Court had earlier this month asked the government not to implement the contract.
