DoFTQC Spokesperson Mohan Krishna Maharjan said that during the inspection and monitoring of food industries and businesses under the Food Safety and Quality Act, 2081 BS, inedible items were found in two firms - a food company and one dairy.

He stated that preliminary testing of food samples from Suryamukhi Dairy shop in Pepsi Cola, Kathmandu, and AB Typical Thakali revealed inedible items along with quality issues. Samples of the processed milk from Suryamukhi Dairy shop have been collected and sent to the laboratory for detailed testing.

During the initial check of bakery shortening at AB Typical Thakali, quality issues were observed. The DoFQC has instructed the company not to use bakery shortening. While monitoring five firms in that area, it was reported that no quality issues were found in three of them.
